WILLIAM'S STORY: GETTING REAL HELP AND SEEING REAL RESULTS

When William worked with his work coach, Jobs 22's Health Coach, Daniella Spagnuolo and Employment Coach, Nichola Carrington from the Milton Keynes office, he got the help he needed to get back to work, including getting online and rebuilding his confidence in interviews.

How did you find working with Jobs 22?

Everyone was genuinely helpful and welcoming. Daniella and Nichola both put me at ease. I found them easy to talk to and didn't feel like I was being judged. I didn't feel pressured, which made everything easier and less stressful.

Did we help you?

We talked about what I was struggling with because a few things were holding me back. I didn't have internet access so getting online was an issue. I also needed some help to sort out my CV. I had one but not in the format employers would accept. When Nichola said Jobs 22 could get me a tablet and a dongle with free internet for a year, I didn't hold out much hope, I've heard promises in the past, and you don't expect people to come through for you. But Jobs 22 did, and it's made such a difference being able to get online. I asked Nichola if I'd have to pay for it or give it back, and she said no, this is all part of the service, and it will continue to help you when you're at work. I was taken aback by that.

What do you think made the most significant difference?

The tablet and internet were great, but the biggest thing was building my confidence and getting me ready to talk to people in interviews. When I was worried about something, whether it was travel or updating timesheets online, someone was always happy to help me out. I didn't feel pressured to take the first job but to find something I wanted to do that would work for my life.

How are things now? How are you finding your new job?

I was nervous before my first meeting, but I think I've come a long way since then. I can talk to you on the phone today and meet new people, and I don't feel uncomfortable with it. I'm enjoying being part of a team at work. I've now got a job working in the River Island Warehouse at Magna Park, and the hours suit me. I'm in dispatch, and the people are friendly, and I find it interesting.

"I can honestly say that I wouldn't be where I am now without the support I've had from Jobs 22 and Nichola and Daniella. It was a different way of working, this is the most help I've ever had, and it's made a real difference to me."
