CV SUPPORT HELPS EXPERIENCED HOSPITALITY DIRECTOR SECURE SENIOR ROLE

When Rebecca Manson, an experienced hospitality director from Great Barford in Bedfordshire, lost her job due to the pandemic, she was in unfamiliar territory. She even had to sell her belongings to afford living costs.

“The pandemic hit the hospitality industry hard last year, and I was, unfortunately, no exception. It was a real shock to go from being gainfully employed in a secure job to being unexpectedly out of work. I felt like I had to start again in some ways, and luckily, Natalie, my employment coach at Jobs 22, was on hand to help.”

Rebecca was referred to the Restart Scheme, where she met Natalie, and they had several conversations to talk about Rebecca’s experience and job search. Natalie recalls, “I noticed Rebecca was regularly applying for jobs, but even with her vast experience wasn’t getting the response I’d expect. I signposted her to the Jobs 22 app, which has a 360 CV checker. Rebecca called me to say the app had highlighted several changes she could make to improve her CV and make it more visible to recruiters.”

Rebecca spent several hours making changes to her CV and improving her score, “I used my new CV to apply for the next vacancy on my list, within 24 hours, the employer invited me for interview. I completed the second and third interviews for the position and was delighted when they offered me the job! I had previously applied for hundreds of jobs with no response, so this was a real turning point for me.”

The position at Surya Hotels offers an exciting new challenge and will help Rebecca get her finances and her career back on the right track. “Natalie at Jobs 22 has been a great support, and Jobs 22 paying my mileage for my commute has been so helpful, I was pleasantly surprised to find out this was part of the service, and I wouldn’t have to pay it back.”

Rebecca continued, “It’s great to be back in work, and even when there are challenges to overcome, I wouldn't change the situation for the world. It’s great to put my enthusiasm and drive into this new role, and I’m thoroughly enjoying it.”

“Rebecca’s story demonstrates how the Restart Scheme and Jobs 22 are helping a wide range of people with varying challenges, even those who have been working in senior and leadership roles. We tailor our support to make sure every participant gets the maximum value on their journey back into work.”
