Introducing the Lichfield Discovery Programme

The Lichfield Discovery Programme is a newly launched initiative to help residents enhance their skills and employment opportunities. This programme aims to connect residents with job search resources and sector-specific training, providing direct access to better job prospects and equipping employers with the skills that local businesses need.

Programme Objectives

The Workforce Development Initiative seeks to:

  • Elevate the skills and qualifications of residents in the Lichfield District, especially those who are currently underqualified or facing employment challenges.

  • Connect residents looking to upskill with local growth sectors, enhancing employability and fostering economic development.

Target Sectors

The Lichfield Discovery Programme focuses on addressing skills shortages in the following dominant sectors of Lichfield’s local economy:

  • Accountancy

  • Building and Construction

  • Catering

  • Cyber Security

  • Digital Marketing

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Horticulture

  • Social Care

Supporting the Local Economy

Councillor Richard Holland, Cabinet Member for High Streets and Economic Development at Lichfield District Council, emphasised the importance of the programme:

“Improving employability levels across the district is an important priority for the council, to help develop our local economy. We also know that support in related areas can play a huge part in helping local people secure better jobs and thrive in them. Jobs 22 is the ideal provider to help us deliver this priority, and we look forward to working with them over the coming year.”

Measuring Success

The programme's success will be evaluated based on several performance criteria, including the number of residents supported in:

  • Education and training

  • Gaining vocational licenses and accredited qualifications

  • Securing employment
